TERNA ENERGY: Completion of $ 250 million investment in USA RES market
Fluvanna Wind farm in Texas commences commercial operation
TERNA ENERGY, member of the GEK TERNA Group, announces the completion and commencement
of commercial operations of the Fluvanna Wind farm in Scurry County, Texas.
Its construction began in December 2016 and was completed in less than 12 months.
Fluvanna has a total capacity of 155.4 MW and consists of 74 wind turbines (Siemens/Gamesa) of
2.1 MW each. It will deliver green electricity into the Texas Interconnection power grid to supply
more than 46,000 homes.
For the successful funding and completion of the project, TERNA ENERGY partnered with
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), as well as with a consortium of major banks.
The total cost of the investment reached the amount of $ 250 million.
With this new investment, the installed capacity of TERNA ENERGY Group in the USA totals 293 MW.
The Group has been operating a wind farm of 138 MW in Elmore County, Idaho, since 2013 and plans
to further invest in the US renewables market, along the guidelines of its strategy to expand its
presence in the area.
The total installed capacity of the Group accounts for 941 MW. Namely 516 MW in Greece, 293 MW
in the USA, 102 MW in Poland and 30 MW in Bulgaria. With about 150 additional MW, currently
under construction, the Company will soon have 1.100 MW (1,1 GW) of RES Plants in full operation,
targeting to further grow its portfolio to 2.000 MW (2,0) GW in all countries where it has selected
to extend its activities.
